i've been a huge fan of this artist's amazing lamp-worked glass for many years. she suffered a paralyzing head injury and although she successfully retaught herself the skills to make art again, she was unable to make this detailed work for over a decade. i'm elated to see that she's back to making this wonderfully exuberant work....see more here.

pulpa bikini marina, midipulpa violeta, pulpa bikini pepa
i have created my pulpa chic world in which the observer dives inot a space of sensuous and visual opulence. the pulpa chic's works are partly quilted (meaty) object-paintings using cloths and acrylic paint. they a have a sort of pop prefabricated beautiful look that reflects today's values and way of life, in which nature is often modified to achieve the ultimate desired artificial perfection.i want one of these pretty, poofy, little pulpas...see more here.

Re(place) 4, mixed media, Re(place) 1, Mixed media, 62 x 62
I use painting as a point of departure to construct pieces that deal with the idea of simultaneity and contradiction. The manner in which objects, images and materials are articulated questions the hierarchies of what is most present. The work consists of structures made out of a diversity of elements partially covered by a veil of acetate or plastic. This wall/screen is attractive and protective at the same time. It also works as a connector that stops or ejects the viewer by making impossible frontal access to what is behind. The blurring of the outside panel unifies the singulars into a whole element. We can still view the inside where the elements are shown as irreducible and coexistent. Perception is relative and dependent upon the position from which it is viewed. The spectator must negotiate a series of points of view. The images are constantly shifting between integration and disintegration. They refer to the body/mind decision–making process of finding a method to make something present. My interest is in structures that are parallel which exist in other configurations such as language. This act of synchronizing is finally a metaphor for the elusiveness of the balance of factors that determine the production of meaning.see more here.
