a new beginning....
hello friends,
it is with a heavy heart that i write this blog post, but i have decided to discontinue posting to this blog.
i have agonized over this decision for months and have arrived at my decision for many reasons, the most important being that i must spend more time in the studio. many changes have taken place in my life over the past year (good and bad), which have required me to revaluate my priorities and direction. between teaching part time at tyler school of art, a demanding workshop schedule, my personal work, contributing to two blogs and my personal life, it seems that something has to give! i'm terribly sorry to say that it has to be this blog...
i have loved every minute i've spent sharing with you all my work, studio tips and most of all, the work of many amazing artists. i will miss immensely your readership, comments, emails and most of all, i will miss the friendships i have gained as a result of writing this blog. so many of you have written over the years to thank me for the inspiration you have gathered from reading this blog and i can't tell you how much i have appreciated hearing from you. for this reason, i will always keep this blog up and running for as long as blogger allows.
i started this blog four years ago as a teaching tool, to afford my students a place to go for inspiration and to keep a log of amazing artists from all disciplines. even though i won't be adding any more posts, i still want that inspiration to continue and over the next few months, i will be adding tags and categories to each post, to make it easier to use the blog as an educational resource.
i will also continue to update my exhibition and workshop schedule on the right sidebar of this blog and on my web site. i will be posting the goings on in my creative life on facebook, so please send me a friend request if we aren't already facebook friends. last, if you would like to see what i'm currently looking at for inspiration, please follow me on pinterest-it's my new addiction! you can find all of the links to me on the right sidebar of this blog under 'where i am online'. please keep in touch, i would love to hear from you!

the week between Christmas and New Years is a time of reflection on the past and hoping the dreams of the present become the reality of the future. so in light of this, i went back through this year's posts and managed to choose three favorites in five categories that will be featured in the next five posts. i post work i love on this blog and to choose the love of the loves was not an easy task! the work made it to favorites week if i found myself drawn to look at it repeatedly, if it moved me enough to stay with me for a period of time and if it inspired me to try something new in the studio. i hope revisiting some of my favorite posts of the year prompt you to rediscover one of your favorites or discover something inspiring that you may have missed the first time around. either way, enjoy and have a great week!!
tomorrow: Merry Christmas!!
